Cape-ism

19 Aug

If Batman can pull it off, so can we. Catwoman’s suit is a most unflattering alternative. Capes have been big for a while now. In the old days, they served the purpose of keeping women warm, when their hoop skirts and intricate sleeves were too big to be stuffed into a fitted over-garment with real sleeves. A cape seemed the logical solution. And now it’s back, in many different forms. It’s freeing, in a way, to not have your arms restricted. This look, from Amanda Wakely, combines a couple of less restrictive capes in mish-mosh of fall fabrics. But the looks works well.

What this means for us: They sell them in most places, so don’t be afraid to pick one up. They come in short lengths, long lengths, with holes for your arms and without. Capes are a great solution for transitioning between summer and fall, as they provide just enough warmth to keep out that new fall chill. Try this Ted Baker sweater-style cape from Asos:
